Long-established Indian vegetarian restaurant
Shree opened in 1983 and is one of the oldest, continuously-running vegetarian Indian restaurants in the Chicago suburbs.
It serves a buffet for lunch and offers menu choices for dinner.
For starters, try the vegetable or tomato soups, iddly (steamed lentil donuts), samosas, or aloo tikki (potato stuffed with lentils and spices). Vegan entrees include the chana masala (chickpeas with Indian spices and herbs), aloo mutter (potatoes and peas cooked in onion and tomato sauce), rava dosas (thin wheat and lentil crepes with onion made out of rice and lentil flour) and the bangan bhartha (baked eggplant mashed and cooked with tomatoes, onion, peas and spices). The chapati (whole wheat flour bread) and the poori (whole wheat flour bread deep-fried) are also vegan. Meals cost about $11.
