Veg-friendly Indian Restaurant
Maharaja doesn't have a huge number of vegan options (two, to be exact, plus one additional vegetarian option with cheese), but considering the difficulty finding vegan food in the Shinjuku area, I feel it should be listed.
The lentil dahl and the vegetable curry are vegan, and they have a green curry with paneer (cheese). They also offer tandoori vegetables at dinner, which are vegetarian (perhaps vegan). Lunch options are about 800 yen, and dinners are around 2000 yen.
The staff is friendly and speaks English and is happy to tell you which items are vegetarian and vegan.
The restaurant is underground and features about 10 2-person tables which could be pushed together for larger groups. It is across from Isetan department store and east of Tiffany & Company and Louis Vitton.
Take the East exit at Shinjuku station and take a right (heading east). Maharaja is about a 3-5 minute walk, on your right hand side, across from Isetan department store and just past Tiffany & Co. and Louis Vitton.
The Maharaja sign is above you, on the right, but the restaurant is downstairs.

I had the lunch special (800 yen), which included two options plus rice. I had the two vegan options, the vegetable curry and the lentil dahl. The food isn't nearly as good as that of Nataraj (fancy Indian, vegetarian restaurant), but it's a fraction of the price. I would certainly go back here.
