It took me a while to warm up to this place, but now it's one of my favorites. The trick was figuring out which of their dishes work, and which don't. Some of their dishes try too hard to mimic meat (vegan drumsticks) and just end up tasting weird. Their wraps, on the other hand, are fantastic! And my husband is absolutely addicted to their Humble Bao appetizer! (Actually, so am I.) Yes, the owners seem to have some unusual religious beliefs, but they don't try to push it on you. It's just quietly scrolling by on their TV. And let's be honest, there are a lot if people who look at us vegetarians/vegans and think we're crazy, so let's not cast stones. They're extremely warm, inviting, and helpful, and they serve some great food.

Advantages:
- The owner is very friendly and helpful.
- The food is healthier than other similar restaurants (e.g. they have brown rice, a bit less oil, etc)
- The place is pleasant, clean, and quiet
- It's on the west side, where there are not many vegan restaurants
- They have desserts (cakes, pies and cookies)

Disadvantages:
- Extremely hard to get to with public transportation
- It is run by some religious group.
- The food was good, but not great. I thought the kebobs were good (although kind of expensive), but the potstickers were almost gross (mushy and tasteless). My dish was good, but nothing special. I ordered it because the menu said it will had pineapple in it, but there was no pineapple there. My partner didn't really like his food. I got coconut cake which didn't seem to have any coconut in it except a bit sprinkled on top; it did have coconut flavor and it was still good, but it wasn't really what I expected, and I probably wouldn't get it again.

I wouldn't be opposed to going there again, but I certainly wouldn't go out of my way to go there. If I go there again, I might try a wrap and a different cake, and see how those are.

Let me just say this: if I were on death row and I had to pick my final meal, I'd choose this place. Nothing compares. Wonderful, fresh food. Super duper friendly staff. And they had cookies. That is all.

Awesome!
We had dinner at Sweet lemon few times and keep coming back for their popular Noble Noodles, awesome kabobs, Guru Curry and the vegan cakes.
Cozy atmosphere with friendly service.

Excellent food. Super friendly people. You couldn't ask for more. Don't let the location fool you. It's a little out of the way but well worth the trip. Even my non-veg friends love it there.

I've lived in Portland for eight years, and Sweet Lemon is, hands-down, the best veggie restaurant in the city. They get anti-inflammatory food. They are genuinely friendly and their restaurant is clean, if kind of small.

I recommend the Guru Island. It's sold as a curry, but is more like a delicious soup with rice logs. My fiancee likes the Imperial roll salad. We fell in love at Sweet Lemon!

We feel lucky to live on the west side so that it's not far for us. If you don't live so close, make the trip -- you'll be glad you did.
