Vegetarian Chinese Takeaway Stand
If you don't read Chinese characters, you'd better learn how to read the character for "vegetarian", as this place has no sign in English. It's a little food car on Pottinger Street, near the corner of Wellington Street, next to a medicinal tea stall.
The ladies at the stall offer vegetarian dim sum and sweets all day long, but the best time to visit is lunchtime, when you can get a lunchbox for about $12HK ($2US). The lunchbox comes with steamed white rice and your choice or mix of all dishes offered with it, including: bean curd, bean curd skin, celery, mushrooms, water chestnuts, lotus root, pumpkin, and bamboo shoots.
You also get a free bowl of soup with each lunch (usually sweet and watery), and the takeaway also offers plenty of sweet buns and glutinous rice snacks for dessert, starting around a quarter each!
There is no English menu but the employees speak English and you can always just point to what you want.
