I use to eat a Sitar all of the time and yes the food was great.
On the occasions that I went by myself the owner would go out of his way to accommodate me be it with tea or a little snack while I waited on my food. This is like 5-6 years ago.
Over time I stopped seeing the owner of the store and a woman started greeting me instead. Don't know if this is his wife or relative or what...
Given that this was my favorite dining spot at the time, I decided to invite some friends to lunch. My friends are African American. It took a LONG time for the woman to finally come to our table and take our order. The place only had maybe 2 other tables to tend to.
As we sat for another interminable period waiting on our food, our eyes caught a roach crawling up the wall by our table. Needless to say, we decided to dine elsewhere for lunch. I never returned.
I now dine at Vinny's (I think it's called something else now?) which is only a little ways up the street from Sitar - literally walking distance.
