Keepin' It Real Raw - Sep 27 07

This is a dishonest business. I ordered a "live plate" and all their food was cooked to death- literally. They must know that this is false advertising. They use substandard products, many of which aren't even vegan. I asked to look at some of the packaging, because the workers lacked product knowledge, and everything from high fructose corn syrup in the shakes and sauces to the potential of calcium lactate in the bread was evident. For vegans who think they are eating a completely vegan meal...think twice. This is NOT a healthy place to eat. Period.

I love the orange lentil soup. My partner who is somewhat veggiephobic really loves both the orange lentil and brown lentil soup. I love the bread that comes with the soup also. The place has inspired me to make lentil soup. I've come up with a version that's pretty similar to the orange lentil soup. The service was friendly, but somewhat aloof.

I went back here recently to see if the customer service had improved, and I was shocked to find that it had actually gotten worse! It took me at least 10 minutes to go in and out to get a simple sandwich, and they weren't even busy. The help there either has no idea what's going on, and as a result everything is just plain SLOW. While I was waiting, one customer even came in and demanded a refund.

This place could have been a really great idea, but it's rather sad that the service is killing what I still think is really good food. I hope they get their act straightened out because I don't see them lasting very long at this rate.

This restaurant was featured on CL TV on 5/10/07. I was so excited to visit because the food look so great. I recently started my veggie life style change along with my daughter. We had decided that we will try the food the next day. I called to place my order from work. I called at 12:15 pm to place my order for pickup. I was immediately placed on hold until 12:30 pm. I called back at 12:30 and was told to call back because the phone had to be use for a credit card transaction. I called back the third time which was now 12:45 pm and asked to speak to the manager. I gave my complaint and the manager appeared to be frustrated about my complaint. She did not apologize for the very bad customer service.

Unfortunately, I never got a chance to try the food and I will not be visiting this establishment in the future. Very Bad customer service.

The is a dishonest business.

After doing a little math on their menu I found that they overcharge customers for purchasing larger beverages (soda and punch), preying on the fact that customers assume a volume discount. This is a horrible practice, especially considering that most of their customers are not very affluent.

To top it off, the manager blatantly gave me a 16oz cup and charged me for a 22oz beverage. The store was not busy at the time and the manager confirmed that I requested a large.

Prior to this I had enjoyed their sandwiches on several occasions. Too bad.

I have very mixed feelings about this place. The food is very good, but it is strangely difficult to get reliably vegan food here.

The staff is very friendly, but it seems like they haven't been briefed on what's vegan and what isn't. The owner knows about everything, so when she's there (which is fairly often) you can just ask her. But when she's not there, it can be frustrating - it seems like the staff just kind of guess what's vegan, and they're not always right.

If they ever get this straightened out, though, it will be the best place ever.

This place is just what Hyde Park needs - quick vegan food, with delivery available. The only down side is that, since they're still getting set up, some of the employees aren't entirely clear on which items are and aren't vegan (I had to ask the manager) and the service can be pretty slow (the guy who was making my sandwich was in training and took a while to make my order).

I really love the vegan sandwiches at Veggies to Go. They have all sorts of sauces and condiments, most of which are vegan. There's a large range of soy meats and delicious vegetables to go on the sandwiches. The smoothies are also quite good (made with delicious vanilla soy ice cream, they come in many different fruit flavors).

Veggies to Go has vegan desserts from Soul Vegetarian, so you can usually find things like caramel cake, chocolate cake, lemon cake, coconut cake, coconut cream pie, sweet potato pie, lemon cream pie, oatmeal cookies and walnut brownies on hand.

I'm really happy with this new restaurant. They have a wide variety of hot and cold sandwiches featuring straight veggies as well as mock meats. All of them can be made vegan, including vegan cheese. Additionally, they have vegan wraps, soups, smoothies and desserts. The restaurant is still finding its stride due to only being open for a couple weeks, so if you're vegan make sure you're clear you need the vegan versions of items.
