Must be experienced!

This is one of the largest authentic open-air markets in the country. Everything is local (unlike the Minneapolis Market, where they bring in produce from as far away as California). Depending on what time of year you go, they have varying arrays of fresh vegetables, berries, apples, ciders, plants, and great live music. The vendors are incredibly friendly, and aside from finding fresh ingredients to make oodles of great vegetarian dishes, you can actually speak with the farmers that grow the food.

Finding Great Veg Food:

-The New French Bakery has a booth and most of their breads are vegan.

-The River Chocolate Co. also makes a killer vegan truffle (they're still varying the recipe, but if you ask them they'll make a batch and have it ready for you in a few days). Totally worth it, they only use blends of single-plantation chocolates.

-Mark Christopher's maple syrup is amazing.

-You can also get lemonade squeezed right in front of you at Jim Golden's bagel stand (and fair-trade soy lattes when it's cold).

- There are Organic/fresh and local dairy and eggs vendors for non-vegan vegetarians.

-Golden Fig has excellent balsalmics and other seasonings. Their dip mixes can be made with vegan mayo or cream cheese.

-Of course 75% of the stands are vegetable stands, making most of the market vegan (!)

***Be sure to bring lots of bags and bundle up if its cold. Most vendors don't accept checks, but there's a cash machine in the Black Dog Cafe across the street.

An extremely rewarding experience in itself, I've been going for almost ten years now.
