Brooklyn Thai in Stylin' Setting

Sea Thai, the glammed out version of a corner thai bistro, is a centerpiece in the neighborhood along the east river waterfront. An industrial ceiling gazes down upon 7,500 square feet of eclectic design: Mod chairs, glam lighting, post-modern video art, DJ booth, and a Buddhist reflecting pond, complete with an empathetic golden Buddha. Seating is first come, first serve, so the Kubrick-esque chairs and bubble swings are filled with the hottest in hair and high heels. Another larger bar lines the back wall and allows patrons to sit back and absorb the ambiance. The food is moderately priced, well prepared and plated and served by a friendly, well-trained staff. Entrees run the usual gamut of curries and noodle dishes to pork chops and duck. Much of the attraction here is the space and the constant pre-party vibe, coupled with quality thai dishes and outstanding service.

some days they don't use too much oil, and they're a 9
other days food swims in it, and they're a 7
so i give it an 8 on average

just to note: you can get in and out for $8 on an entree alone. appetizers are around $4 a piece. the lemongrass soup is amazing.

Sea is one of the most atmospherically engaging veg-friendly restaurants that I have visited in New York City. There is a large fountain in the center with a statue of the Buddha. There are swing seats in the front that you can play on while you wait for your table. The place is large but often crowded on the weekends, when there is a DJ. The food is awesome and there are many vegetarian options, although my rating takes into account the overall feel of the place...which makes it stand out. It's a very cool place for dinner out...
