A tiny informal cafe where diners place their order at the blue tile counter. This eatery offers Thai and American all-vegan cuisine and specializes in fast food and catering. Their Shiitake Soup Bowl and Thai Yellow Curry are especially tasty and satisfying. Short on atmosphere but very popular for take-out.

Yum! I ate here for the first time tonight and wish that I had a place like this closer to my house! I got the lentil wrap (lentils wrapped in whole wheat lavash bread with lettuce, tomatoes, avocado, and sprouts), which was delicious. I definitely needed more tahini sauce than what they provided me with, but they gladly gave me more. It was a little heavy on the lettuce and light on the lentils for my tastes, but I am already craving seconds, so it was overall very good! My dinner buddy got a noodle dish with a miso gravy, which wasn't as good as my dish. The gravy was kind of gelatinous, with not enough noodles. Next time, I will try a breakfast burrito, and I hear that the tropical pancakes with blueberries and bananas are to die for!

Love this place. We go there often. Tasty food (love the Thai Salad!) and personal service: I have exchanged plants with the lovely plant loving lady.
We prefer to sit outside, in the back. Everything we tried there was simply great.

My last couple of experiences witih Vegan Express have been better than earlier experiences. It's still a tiny place with difficult parking, but it has more personality than some of the newer Vegan X restaurants, and I have come to prefer the tahini dressing in my wraps to the vegenaise used at the other restaurants. Plus, it's cheap, and convenient to Warner Brothers and Universal Studios, or just when you're crossing over the hill on Cahuenga or the 101.
