the food is great and fresh it's nice place to go anytime alone or with a friends and family i go all the time when i go to Los Angeles from the valley the only thing is the parking is mostly on the street because is tiny, for the restaurant customers but is worthy for the food a lot vegan options and desserts vegan pies(low sugar) and some time cakes.
it's east and west kind of cuisine but with a lot flavor

Pretty decent food, maybe a little too spicy, but filling and probably the best I had on this trip to LA. More of a canteen than a restaurant and maybe some of the food wasn't too fresh on the day I visited, but the smiling service and an interesting group of fellow diners (including numbers of full-on Hare Krishna followers who were, on my visit, planning a web site - pretty cool!) went some of the way to make up for it.
The real joys of this place come from the ethnic shop - conveniently located upstairs, and the adjacent Krishna temple - which is worth a visit (if the whole thing isn't too scary for you).
The location of this restaurant - Culver City - is pretty neat too: a real cowboy-style town.
On arrival we accidently wandered into the local Masons Hall (Govindas is down the little street to the left of the Krishna sign board) - but the chap we met there was very helpful and a real nice guy; he's worth a hello if you have time.

I disagree with the below reviewer. The food is ultra-fresh and delicious. They make all their own salad dressings. I highly recommend their spicy peanut dressing. I have wonderful dreams about it. The entrees are all vegetarian -- and most of them are vegan. They mark all vegan items with a "V" on their menu board, so you never have any doubts. All the people there are low-key and friendly. It's one of my favorite places for lunch -- and you can't beat $6.00 for the all you can eat buffet.

The food is so-so and the cafeteria style doesn't help. Much of the fare offered looks exactly like what a meat-eater fears: mushy, unrecognizable gloop.
