Cool atmosphere, with red booths for seating, but I don't love the food. The biscuits were mushy, but the blueberry pancakes are good. Definitely a home-style restaurant with huge portions. Avoid the juice unless you like the kind from a box.
They have the yummy pancakes and a smile that makes you feel at home.
Art in the house is great too, as much as everything else....try the specials...yummm
Wow. This was some great food. Definitely try the migas and the hashbrowns! My husband said the biscuits and gravy were amazing.
I would give a 10, but the tables were a tad dirty (we wiped ours off with a napkin) when we went. The staff was friendly and funny; they seemed to know many of the patrons and were very easy-going.
You might want to think twice before bringing your conservative grandma here, even though she might love the food. The music is kind of loud and punk and granny might not get it. Or she just might rock out with some yummy scrambled tofu.
This was good tasty vegan food. Nice DIY environment as well. The coffee was strong, delicious, and fair trade.
First vegan cinnamon roll I've had!
when i'm in seattle and hanker for home cooking. this is the place that i go to. you can't go wrong at the wayward cafe.
Good food doods.
I'm glad the rainbow has been painted over.
Yummy breakfast, especially the french toast with raspberries and homemade whipped cream. The tofu scramble wasn't super exciting. The place looked like it could use a fresh coat of paint, but the waiter was super nice.
My favorite new vegan restaurant! The philly is possibly the best vegan sandwich I have ever had. The "chicken parmesean" and the "fish" sandwich is really good too. The brownie is sssooooo yummy!

I came to Wayward Cafe twice during my trip to Seattle, though it warranted more trips than even that.
First, this is the perfect brunch/lunch spot in a quiet residential area. I've had lots of vegan brunches, but this place serves the best I've had. The first time I went I greatly enjoyed my tofu scramble with spicy seitan and the wonderful herb-covered toast that came with it ($7.50). My half-order of biscuits and gravy ($4) was good, but not as well-executed as the scramble.
The second time I went I had a side of spicy Mexican tofu scramble ($4) (there are probably six or seven different types of scrambles here) which tasted like amazing Mexican street food. The fake chorizo was the perfect touch to it. I also had an awesome sausage breakfast biscuit ($6.50) which consisted of "cheezy" tofu scramble on top of a home-made sausage patty, in between a flaky, soft, herb muffin. Truly amazing stuff. Finally, I had a chocolate chip-blueberry pancake ($3) which was also delicious, and I'm not usually a fan of pancakes.
Wayward looks like it would be the type of place where you'd get surly service in a grungy atmosphere, but instead it's extremely friendly and the food shows so many unusual touches of quality and attention to detail. This is not your ordinary vegan breakfast hole-in-the-wall. Also, surprisingly, they accept credit cards, which is a huge plus. Wayward Cafe is highly recommended.
