My favorite place ever. I drive up from Tacoma just to go eat here.

Tasty, lots of options, but it's basically a Chinese buffet style restaurant. I got my moneys worth but wasn't blown away.

The food at Araya's is consistently excellent. There are many unusual (and delicious!) curry flavors, including avocado curry and pumpkin curry. I love the fact that Araya's has a clear spice rating system - the server asks you to name a level between 1 and 5 (where 1 is "not spicy" and 5 is "very spicy"). This removes a lot of the ambiguity.

The Thai iced tea is easily my favorite menu item at Araya's. It's made with coconut milk instead of sweet-and-condensed milk and it's amazing!

My only (very minor) complaint about Araya's has to do with the faux meat. Unlike some vegan Asian restaurants, Araya's doesn't try to imitate chicken or beef by duplicating the structure and flavor. The "beef" in the pumpkin curry is just ordinary seitan, which is perfectly fine with me. However, the texture of the seitan is fairly tough and it doesn't soak up the flavor of the curry very well. If you're thinking about ordering a dish at Araya's that comes with seitan, I would recommend substituting tofu instead.

Went with two meat eaters as well and everyone loved their food, we all talked about going back. Large portions with good prices. Went back for the buffet today which was also pretty decent for the price.

Huge buffet of delicious food. Lots of choices. It's like going to a Thai restaurant and getting to sample half the menu. I wish this restaurant was in Portland.

Food was mediocre. Service was ok.

The spiciness levels were problematic. They simply added heat without adjusting for the flavor when asked for a level 5. Sure it was spicy, but it wasn't tasty. I found vegetable pancakes were overly greasy, but do tend to be sensitive towards oily foods.

Wonderful Thai food with no worries about hidden fish sauce.

Hi, Just wanted other vegetarians how nice this place is. We have been long time HAPPY customers. The staff always remember us and ask how we are doing. We always feel very welcome. It is a total treat for us to go there. The service is great! Both fast, hot and professional. We are glad they serve wine now too. Our kids 11 and 14 also love it. Their favs are pot stickers and spring rolls. Our favs are pumpkin curry and the peanut sauce dish. Oh and you have to try the black rice pudding dessert (can't rememder what it is called).

I want to comment about the service only. The food is pretty decent and for a vegetarian/vegan is dependable and consistent.

I have been to Araya's at least 6 times since I moved to the Seattle area in early 2007. I love the food, and always thought the service needed improvement.

This past weekend, the service was particularly bad. We were a group of 6 adults and 2 kids. We had the buffet and essentially there was no service, which usually means only serving water during a buffet. The fact that they couldn't re-serve water for an hour to a group of 8 ppl shows their commitment to consumers.

And finally, in paying for the buffet, they charged me for $9 for the 2 kids who hardly had one spring roll each. Fine, policy et al, I am willing to buy it. And on top of this, they add an 18% gratuity for the group! WHAT? For a buffet, and NO SERVICE? And on top of this, Ms. Araya's son is purely rude! Is is this customer service? Do you really care about your customers?

I think Araya's is at a stage where they are taking customers for granted and charging as they please. I am going to stay away from them.

One of the worst vegan places I have ever dined at. I not only found my food bland but a bit sickening. The food was cold and when I asked for more water... the waitress never came back.

Terrible in every sense of the word

Great food in a pleasant environment. This is the only place I go for Thai food in the area and it's totally vegan. Parking is definitely a bonus. Never had a mediocre meal here - always fantastic.

The food at Araya's is awesome. I had the vegetable cakes, which are rice flour pancakes/dumplings stuffed with chinese leeks (smaller than the typical grocery store ones) and pan-fried. I also tried the avocado curry, which is green curry with avocado, peppers, tofu, and mock meat.

Both of these dishes were delicious. Sometimes Asian vegetarian food has a strong Buddhist influence, and it's too light for my taste. This is especially disappointing with Thai food, since I love the strong flavors in it. Araya's doesn't go this route, instead just preparing vegan variations of familiar (and some less familiar) Thai dishes.

I'll look forward to my next trip here.

Wow! This food was amazing! The spring rolls were the best I've ever had. I can't remember the name of my dinner--I just kind of randomly picked a dish--but it was really good. My husband ordered a green coconut curry and loved it.

You can order your food as spicy as you like, using a 1 to 5 scale. I ordered a 2, but the dish was spicier than most, so that was fairly hot. My husband's curry was ordered as a 3 and it was comparatively mild. Ask the server for guidance if you're not sure how spicy you want your food.

On top of the excellent food, the atmosphere was inviting with warm lighting and interesting Thai decorations throughout.

Yummy vegan thai restuarant we happened to stumble upon while visiting Seattle. Friendly people, tasty food, nice decor. They had vegan wontons and mock meats. Definately recommend.

This is my favorite restaurant in the Pacific NW. The buffet is delicious and extremely reasonable at $5.99, and goes from 11:30 to 3:30 every day but Sunday. From the menu, try the pumpkin curry or taro root a la bangkok. The leek cakes are also exceptionally good. Actually, everything on the menu is heavenly.
