Thai restaurant
Sister restaurant to Saladang next door, but with less traditional, Thai-fusion food. Let them know that you're veggie/vegan, and that they need to make the dish without fish sauce. They're normally willing to substitute tofu in any of their non-vegetable dishes too.
(A sala in Thailand is a gazebo at the side of the road for travelers to rest in, dang means red and song means two.)
It's housed in a converted warehouse, but it's been done with a lot of style. Well worth sitting under the palm trees in their courtyard.
Head down Fair Oaks, from colorado Blvd., past Central Park, across Del Mar Blvd at the bottom of the park, and Saladang Song will be on your right at the next corner (Waverly Dr).

WARNING: Went for lunch recently for the first time, and were told by the staff that they couldn't do anything that was veggie, since their curry paste came with fish sauce already in it (have been told on every previous occasion that leaving out the fish sauce wasn't a problem). We're going to write to them to get this confirmed by the management, but, in the meantime, be careful here.
Really imaginative food; one of my favorites is the Soba Salad (cold buckwheat noodles, with shi'itake mushrooms, cucumber, green leaf, onion, in sesame dressing, with tofu substituted for the meat obviously). You should also try their Fried Taro Rolls.
