Blossom is my favorite vegan restaurant in New York. The food was amazing (try their BLT sandwich or their chocolate ganache), the service was friendly and prompt, and the location and ambience were both superb. The prices are high, but the quality of the food made up for it. Definitely recommended.
This is a lovely upscale restaurant with good food and good decor. The portions were pretty small for the price, but I guess that is to be expected at a fancy restaurant.
The cheese pizza with caramelized onions was incredible! I have been dreaming about it ever since.
Blossom is an excellent upscale vegan restaurant with some creative and tasty dishes. I enjoyed the Black-Eyed Pea Cake, a fresh Arugula salad with avocado and chicpea, and a dish with tempeh, black beans, and squash. The food was very good and the atmosphere was upscale.
This is definitely the best vegan restaurant in Manhattan, and California for that matter. I've been to the ever famous Millennium on the west coast and it is good, but Blossom is truly special. One must try the Seitan Scallopini, which melts in your mouth and definitely for dessert the Gourmet Vegan Cheesecake. I've never tasted anything like it. Most vegan restaurants, and restaurants in general have a lot to learn from their chef about delicious cuisine. Perfect place for a quiet or romantic night out.
Solid vegan food, but for some reason, it wasn't as exciting to me as Counter.
Enjoyed the Seitan Medallion, but found porcini in another dish to be AWOL in all but a few paper thin slices.
Came away full, but not blissed out. Desserts were solid, but some simply failed due to gritty "ice creams."
Service was attentive without being overbearing, but our table wobbled. It was kind of ridiculous that such a thing could occur in a "gourmet" restaurant. Anyway, Chelsea is off my beaten path. I wouldn't seek this place out, unless I happened to be in the area.
The food at Blossom is really excellent, and the service was pretty good. I really enjoyed the Black-eyed Pea Cake appetizer, it was the best of the things we ordered. The Seitan Medallions were also excellent.
There were a couple things that kept them from getting a 10 from me. First, the dessert was good, but not great. I ordered the Chocolate Ganache Torte. The ganache itself was perfect, but the cake underneath it was too dry. It came with a scoop of chocolate ice cream, but the ice cream was mostly ice crystals. It tasted good but the texture was completely wrong.
Second, they pulled the old "would you like sparkling or flat water" trick, which seems to be a New York thing. No, I do not want a $7 bottle of water, I want some tap water, and keep it coming. The "keeping it coming" thing is the third flaw, which is that our server only filled our water glasses when asked.
In another city, Blossom would be the best vegan restaurant by far, but in Manhattan if you're looking for a gourmet vegan meal I'd recommend Counter or Candle 79 over Blossom.
I enjoyed Blossom a great deal. I went for lunch on 5/3/06 and ordered the seitan satay starter and the tofu fra diablo. Both were excellent, though together it might have been too much pasta (the satay is over pasta with a peanut sauce). The service was a little spotty but our server was on her second day and held up well. I'll be going back for sure.
Blossom is the best vegan or vegetarian restaurant I have ever dined in. I am a vegan and two of my friends who joined me are not and we were all blown away. We had the Savory Seitan and the Porcini Crusted Filet as entrees and something called a Black Eyed Pea Cake for an appetizer - amazing flavor. The place is also very beautiful, a great place for a romantic night out. The organic wine the waiter recommended complemented the meal perfectly. I'm going back tonight with three other friends and can't wait!

Today was my first time at Blossom, and I can honestly say it was flawless. It had an upscale feel, yet still managed to be warm and inviting. Even though the sparkling and still water are $7, our waiter offered us tap and kept up on refills without being asked. I ordered the stuffed portobello caps which was excellent. My girlfriend got the port wine saitan which was too good for words. Our meals took no more than 10 minutes to arrive and had good presentation. My dessert (the Chocolate Ganache) was perfect along with the chocolate ice cream with it. Overall I would highly recommend this restaurant to everyone.
