Traditional Indian Cuisine

Has the standard veg starters: Pakoras, Aloo Tikki and Samosas. Has wide selection (~15 items) on veg menu

I usually get the vegetarian combo platter for a starter. It comes with Tamarind Sauce and Curried Onions. I tend to rotate main courses, but haven't had a bad one yet. My favourite is Shahi Paneer Korma. Spicing can be specified, but they use dried chillies to achieve this

Upon walking into India Pavillion, you may be put off by the lack of atmosphere and the usually empty dining area. However, that is probably because most people use it as a take-out type of place being in 5-points, the center of college bars and all.

I took my parents there because they were not well-versed in Indian food and now it has become one of their favorite places. The pricing is decent and the vegetarian options were plentiful. Although it is not a solely vegetarian restaurant, it is a great place to introduce people to great vegetarian food.

I would definitely frequent this as a take-out place or for the lunch buffet.

I traveled to Columbia on a business trip last year, and I was glad to find an Indian restaurant. Most of the time, Indian restaurants are failsafe places to get good vegetarian food, and that's what I was after my first night in town.

Sadly, I was let down. I'm glad that the India Pavilion has vegetarian options on the menu, but my experience fell short of what I was expecting. The place was really, really quiet, first off - somehow "too" quiet. There were other diners there, but the restaurant came off, unfortunately, as really depressing. My food, for what it's worth, did arrive quite fast - but really didn't meet my expectations. I ordered chana masala, a pretty basic dish, but it just wasn't that tasty. I have to give 'em points for trying, but it was almost as if I was dining in a Chinese restaurant in rural North Dakota. They may try, but it's nowhere near the kind of stuff you'd get elsewhere.

That being said, it *was* Indian food, and it *was* vegetarian. From what I could gather while I was down in Columbia for a few days, this alone is certainly a plus.

(As an aside, check out my review for the Rosewood Market. I stumbled upon it the day after dining at the India Pavilion... and I ate nowhere else for the rest of my trip.)
