"Southern Reconstruction" cooking

Wishbone is a very popular restaurant that features southern-inspired cuisine. They have three different menus throughout the day (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner) and all definitely have vegetarian options with a smaller set of vegan-friendly options. It's very popular on Sundays for brunch, so you may need to wait a bit for a table. They have two locations, one in the West Loop Gate area on Washington, and one in West Lakeview near Lincoln.

I like hitting Wishbone every once in a while. Like a lot of brunch places they have a number of vegetarian items that contain dairy and eggs while the vegan items are really limited. For brunch, I would recommend the spicy black bean cakes served with the mango and/or sweet red pepper sauce. Asking the wait staff can usually help you figure out what on the menu is vegan vs. vegetarian.

This place is popular, especially for brunch and lunch hours, so expect it to be packed with people around those times.
