Cuban food in a romantic setting
When I first heard about Havana Cafe, I was very skeptical. That's because this is Cuban food; which isn't necessarily famous for being Vegetarian-friendly. And, truth be told, there aren't a lot of Veg options on the menu, other than appetizers.
Fortunately, there are quite a few of those; enough to satisfy vegetarians, at least on an occasional basis. That is, if they like plantains, black beans, and black bean or Gazpacho soup. There's also a delectable Spanish potato pie served with a zesty tomato sherry sauce; as well as sweet potato fries. Appetizers and soup mostly range $4-$5.
Entrees include fresh squash stuffed with lentils, corn, carrots, and onion, $13 (1/2 price at lunch); and a delightful rice, herb, vegetable, and bean dish, $15.
And there's even Raw dishes: the avocado salad (slathered olive oil and lime juice), the cabbage salad (dressed up in garlic and lime juice), and the gazpacho soup.
The setting is very quaint and romantic. Which, in part, is why it's listed here; as Havana Cafe rates pretty high on the ambiance scale.
