Cuban food in a romantic setting
When I first heard about Havana Cafe, I was very skeptical. That's because this is Cuban food; which isn't necessarily famous for being Vegetarian-friendly. And, truth be told, there aren't a lot of Veg options on the menu, other than appetizers.
Fortunately, there are quite a few of those; enough to satisfy vegetarians, at least on an occasional basis. That is, if they like plantains, black beans, and black bean or Gazpacho soup. There's also a delectable Spanish potato pie served with a zesty tomato sherry sauce; as well as sweet potato fries. Appetizers and soup mostly range $4-$5.
Entrees include fresh squash stuffed with lentils, corn, carrots, and onion, $13 (1/2 price at lunch); and a delightful rice, herb, vegetable, and bean dish, $15.
The setting (at the Camelback location) is very quaint and romantic. Which, in part, is why it's listed here; as Havana Cafe rates pretty high on the ambiance scale (see patio photo below).
