Exquisite Chinese Cuisine
Desert Jade Restaurant has the unenviable task of competing with the Vegetarian House (just a couple doors down) for veg-friendly Chinese food. Nevertheless, it acquits itself pretty well with entrees such as:
Vegetable Bean Cake Soup
Vegetable Chow Mein
Vegetable Fried Rice
Vegetable Chop Suey
Vegetable Egg Foo Young
Mushrooms with Snow Peas
Assorted Vegetables
Kung Pao Vegetables
Spicy Bean Curd with vegetables
Moo Shu Vegetables
Kung Pao Cabbage
Chinese Black Mushrooms with vegetables
Asparagus with Black Bean Sauce
If you're looking for more variety (or simply want to support a vegetarian restaurant), then the Vegetarian House is your best bet. But, if you're looking for different flavors and a different experience (than going to the Vegetarian House, again), Desert Jade is worth checking out!

Good, solid, old-school Chinese food, with decor that probably hasn't been updated since 1976 and a friendly, efficient staff, some of whom have probably been working there since 1976. The mu-shu vegetables are nice, as are the assorted Chinese vegetables. I also appreciate that they offer steamed brown rice as an option. Since my husband is a total carnivore, and I'm a 20-year vegetarian, this is a local favorite where we can both get a consistently good meal.
