Philadelphia’s first Loatian restaurant
This lively spot in West Philadelphia prepares the culinary treats of Laos and Thailand, including curries, noodle dishes, soups, spring rolls and pad Thai, making Vientiane a bright new jewel on the increasingly international Baltimore Avenue corridor. Vientiane serves lunch and dinner Monday through Saturday.
They use coconut milk only so all the desserts (except the honey-covered bananas, and maybe the chocolate banana dessert) are vegan.

This place was okay. The food wasn't excellent, and we both had stomach aches afterward. the satay tasted a bit fishy, but the stomach aches weren't awful enough to attribute it to meat intolerances. if anything it might have been egg or milk? so if you go, make sure they know you don't eat eggs or milk. i asked the server if their curry paste is made with shrimp, and i don't know if he understood what i meant, but he said no. and their clear broth for the tofu and spinach soup is vegetable based.
