I've never had a bad experience here. Good food, waiters are kind of out of it, not really paying attention, talking on the phone, or other. I get Pad Thai w/ Tofu or the Tom Yum, always comes out the right spicyness. I will try some other Thai places that are mentioned in the reviews though.

Sawatdee Uptown is a good place to grab some Thai food, but I agree with other reviews that there are better places in Uptown for Thai. But you can definitely find good vegetarian and vegan options. The atmosphere is kinda lame, though...it looks like the building used to be a Perkins or something. They decorated alright inside, but the architecture of it clashes with the decor and food. Overall, if you want to try Sawatdee, I recommend the one in Downtown. The food, atmosphere, and service have all been fantastic each time I've been there.

the twin cities have so many delicious thai options, that i will never go here again. the food was very greasy and bland. the pad thai was terrible.

i live a block from here and so end up there all the time. my favorite is the green curry (i haven't had the courage to ask if it's vegan or not), and i also absolutely love their tom yum, with tofu and tomatoes. i used to always go to chang mai thai but everything tasted fishy. at sawatdee, their sign says "seafood & vegetarian" - they make a clear distinction between the two. i never had thought about it before, but its very telling. thai food generally employs a lot of fish flavorings, but its easy to get great tasting food without that at sawatdee. additionally, most of their dishes come with tons of fresh veggies that are crisp-tender, not too mushy. delicious.

i've had horrible experiences here. one take out order had an incense stick in it (not kidding) and an order of spring rolls had a plastic novelty cocktail stir stick in it!!!! i ate part of it!!!!!! when informed of the piece o plastik, they offered me a new spring roll........ha.
any ways, plastic or not, i would pick true Thai before sawatdee because it's cheaper, better food.

I had a Thai Basil Supreme and it was excellent. I asked if it was vegan, the waitstaff clearly understood what I meant and said it was.

Every time I've eaten here I've felt a bit ill within one to two hours because the food is so incredibly oily. I swore off returning quite a while back.

The service was good, but the spring rolls were BAD. The Rain forest Curry was alright - but I ordered it at a level 2 out of five on the spicy scale and it was too spicy for me. My husband ordered the basil supreme and asked for a level 2 spiciness and that was fabulous. I would go back, but skip the spring rolls - they had rice noodles, ice burg lettuce, a few shredded carrots, and a spring of cilantro, and they cost FIVE dollars! Plus, the sauce they came with was too sweet and not very good.
