Beano Wholefoods
Coffee/Tea/Juice, Grocery/Bakery/Deli, General Store
Small but perfectly formed workers' co-operative wholefood shop.
Update 1st March, 2008: went past the new store recently, and it seemed to be closed. I can't find any info on this however.
(Now moved to new premises - see map in the image below.)
One of the oldest wholefood worker's co-ops in the UK, founded by members of Suma in 1976. Stocks a wide range of products from groceries and toiletries to snacks and drinks. They specialise in organic produce, including fresh fruit and veg.
Due to the size of the shop, it's not very wheelchair accessible, but they do have a delivery service.
From The Headrow (the wide east/west running street towards the north end of the town centre), head east. Take a left turn into New Briggate; after you pass over the A64(M) this becomes North Street, and you'll soon get to Beano's new premises on the right.

Despite the size of the shop (about 440 sq ft they inform me), they pack an enormous amount in. If you're in Leeds it's a great place to get your grocery shopping, or just go for a snack.
Apparently, they're moving to new premises later this year, but don't know where yet.
