I drooled over the menu online for a few days before dining here but I have to say that I wasn't really impressed with the food. Everything was prepared beautifully but it lacked flavor and was way overpriced. I got the avocado and amaranth tacos, expecting some deep-fried amaranth breading - after all, these tacos were $15! - but rather, I received a plate of plain beans and rice and simple avocado tacos with a bit of amaranth sprinkled on top. I also had the blue cornmeal-crusted nopales. Sounds amazing but also bland. The cactus really had no flavor so I had to salt it up and thank goodness it came with guacamole. But come to think of it, the item didn't mention guacamole so I am surprised it was more substantial than the cactus itself.
My friend ordered the stuffed poblano pepper with vegan cheese (also $15), and it was similarly bland. Also, the vegan cheese was sprinkled on top but it wasn't put under the broiler or anything. Even dairy cheese should be melted on chilles rellenos and vegan cheese needs to be melted even more so this dish was a no-go by me.
That said, the staff was super friendly. I can't say I'll be back, but I do hope they work on the flavor of the vegan dishes because they do have potential.
