Vegetarian cafe and natural food (worker's) co-op on the East side of Toronto

Restaurant, Coffee/Tea/Juice, Grocery/Bakery/Deli

This co-op features a vegetarian cafe. Note, though, that the grocery section does sell meat. The Big Carrot carries a wide selection of organic vegetarian and vegan goods, including breads, soy products, bulk foods, vegetables, and fruit.

Beyond just providing a large selection of natural foods, the Big Carrot attempts to educate the public about social and environmental issues related to the food they consume and create a worker-friendly environment.

Expensive store, but a good selection for the new vegetarian. The carrot common has a few shops and doctors, yoga, etc. There is a veggie deli inside the store and they've recently gone under renovations which opened the store up nicely.
