One things is for sure, its completely vegetarian. As for it being healthy or tasty, not so much. Its more of a place to go after a night of drinking rather than a place to go for a decent dinner. Everything there is absolutely covered in earth balace and very fatty. So you usually get a stomach ache. Hardly anything is cooked to order unless its deep-fried. Which almost half the menu is. Except for the drinks (coffee, tea, and beer), nothing is advertised as being organic or local. The setting is nice, with a outdoor patio protecting from the sun which you can smoke on after 10pm. And they serve great beer and coffee. Its also kinda overpriced considering it is vegetarian food, and the amount of food you get. If your new to town, i would recommend the laughing seed cafe' (100% veg) before rosettas. Now they are actually feeding the family right. Complete proteins, whole grains, and vital nutrients in completely balanced scrumptious meals.
I have a new favorite vegetarian restaurant! We took a trip to Asheville recently and ate here almost everyday. Their vegetables weren't overcooked, they give a lot of food for the price and they use earth friendly products and recycle everything! Their food is wholesome and nutritious, and like their advertisement says, they feed the family right. If you are going to Asheville and have to pick one veggie place to eat, let it be Rosetta's.
I have been to Rosetta's twice now, and would definitely go back again. It has a very down to earth "hippie college hangout" feel to it. Right down to the Dr Bronner's soap in the bathroom.
I have had the Tempeh Reuben both times, as I consider myself a connoisseur. I enjoyed every bite of it on my first trip. This last time my sandwich left a lot to be desired...it was very dry, and not much flavor or sauce at all...The first time I was there I requested it vegan so that they wouldn't use the swiss cheese. They said they could use soy cheese instead. This time my server told me they had no soy cheese (I hope what I had in February was soy and not dairy!!!) so they put avocado slices on it.
I will definitely go back and try something else!
I love that they serve Beer and Wine also...and I would like to try a dessert or two. They look yummy in the case!
Ok, I'm out of the south now and if there's one thing i miss it's Rosetta's kitchen. I used to go there as often as i could. the food is excellent,My personal favorite; mashed potatoes and gravy. the kale is wonderful. the staff is great, everyone there is friendly. the have an extensive dessert menu. and even though the restaurant is located in the heart of downtown ashville, the prices are exceptional. I remember getting a good meal for under 5$. Sundays they do the whole brunch thing, and if you make it, get the tofu burrito, you will not be disappointed. and if your out late at night, gallivanting or what not' they are open until 3:00 that gives you an hour after the bars close.

Rosetta's Kitchen is a great addition to the Asheville restaurant landscape. The food is really good (the sort of stuff that you would make for yourself and your family if you had tons of time and energy at the end of the day!) The only thing that keeps it from being 'excellent' is the pricing, which has been steadily increasing over the last couple years. Don't miss the vegan chili cheese fries or the reasonably priced chocolate cake with peanut butter frosting!
