Fancy vegan restaurant
Fressen is a fancy vegan restaurant open for dinner everyday and for dinner and brunch on the weekends. The decor is relatively cozy and comfortable and the food got excellent reviews in the Media.
The tapas-style menu allows guests to sample a variety of dishes, all made to order. Unique items range from exotic salads to creative takes on traditional favourites: including zucchini and Portobello rawzanga with pesto and hemp butter, hand-made fettuccini, and seared King mushrooms on sesame spinach with lemon garlic sauce.
The whole front opens up in the summer for an airy view of Queen Street.

I have been coming to this place for over, gee, a long time since it was Gekko and Scott and Steve ran it. It then became Red Cat Trading and now Fressen. Steve and Scott were great in serving off the menu vegan food and when Steve opened Fressen it was equally amazing. It became my 2nd home. Over the years though it has lost its sparkle; I moved away and come back every six months and try to bring in as many friends for a dinner party as I can. The food has for the most part remained very favourably on the plus side; though maybe not as inventive as when Steve was in the kitchen every night. However the past couple of times I have brought friends in we have been welcomed by by an extremely sour hostess; one time she told us they were closing early because it was quiet even though I had a party of 7 and they were quite thirsty and hungry, the latest time we were just damn offended by the utter rudeness of both the hostess and the wait staff. It was totally inexcusable and almost doesn't make up for the excellent food. 4.5 for the food and 0 for service.

Very fancy meals. It is art on a plate, if you can afford it. Good brunch!
