Ultra-spectacular, yet inexpensive, Thai food in ritzy Scottsdale
The last place I'd expect to find delicious, yet inexpensive Thai food, is in posh North Scottsdale; where ostentation and decadence is normal. Here, millonaires and gazillionaires rub elbows and wine and dine at fine, exquisite restaurants. Yet Thai Pan is fast-casual food, so (despite the glitzy decor here) I guess that's how they justify not charging exorbitant prices typical for this area.
In fact, the prices at Thai Pan seem more fit for college students than for people with probably more money than they'll possibly be able to spend in the next 10 lifetimes.
Nevertheless, the rest of us will take whatever break we can get(!); thanks to Thai Pan. Here, most of the dishes start out vegetarian, and then there is a protein option, such as tofu with vegetables. Most dishes can also be spiced to order.
And there's way too many menu items for vegetarians to choose from than I could possibly list here. (See the website for the full menu.) Unlike many of the other veg-friendly places in town.
Thai Pan has appetizers (such as vegetable lettuce wraps and two great veg salads), as well as rice noodle dishes, fried rice meals, stir fries (with vegetables and spices), coconut milk and curry dishes, and Atkins dishes (with lots of vegetables).
For fast food, Thai Pan does wonders with the likes of lemon grass, Thai basil, Thai ginger, coconut milk, and kaffir lime.
And just when you thought it can't get any better than this, Thai Pan also has great lunch specials from 11am-3pm M-F (many of the same menu items, but at reduced prices!).
Vegans be warned: Not all Thai Pan's vegetable dishes are vegan. Be sure to ask in advance.
