Wednesdays are Vegetarian Night - entire menu of vegetarian and vegan selections.
Executive Chef Mehmet Ak has created a menu that offers over 25 entrees, nearly half of them vegetarian: baby eggplant stuffed with onions, red and green pepper, pine nuts and feta, topped with Kasseri cheese and a rich garlic tomato sauce; or portabella mushrooms sautéed with broccoli, zucchini and carrots over humus with pinenuts and raisins. There are also Turkish kebabs galore, plus standards like falafil, humus, dolma, and vegetarian musakka. The room is semiformal -- dim lighting, candlelight, white tablecloths, Turkish textiles on the walls -- and you can sit on floor cushions at one of two low tables up front. Very romantic and relaxing atmosphere, with a great selection of Turkish wines and beer.
Chef Mehmet is the original owner and founder of Cousin’s. A recent vegetarian and raw foodist, he is sensitive to various dietary choices, and strives to create healthy food that looks good and tastes great while allowing people to experience Turkish culture through its rich and healthy cuisine.
Co-owner and manager Ben Barber is a graduate of the University of Chicago and loves to see U of C. students and alumni.

I usually go to the Cousin's in Lakeview on Broadway near Diversey. I am never disappointed when I dine here; the vegetarian dish I usually get is a large platter that samples a variety of other dishes. I particularly am fond of the hummus, which is some of the best I've had. The service is also quite good. Overall, it's a nice place for a date or a gathering of friends.
