Found a gem! Savories has an ever-changing menu with unique sophisticated dishes. I emailed them a few days before going to see what they had to offer that was vegan. This is the warm response I recieved
"Our options would revolve around items such as polenta, risotto or quinoa. We generally have veggie choices such as mushrooms, asparagus, tomato, artichoke hearts, green beans, broc, caulif, etc. In addition to that we have olive oil wine, garlic, herbs etc that we can add to flavor a dish of your choosing. Of course we have salad options and could do a pizza w/o cheese and our tempura green beans are rather popular. So you are more than welcome to join us and I am sure we can create something for you, let me know what sounds good to you."
We ate there this past weekend (July 2011) and ordered the brushetta for an appetizer (without the meat and cheese). It was a big enough portion for my husband and I. It included amazing bread, an assortment of marinated tomatoes, pickled veggies, and olives. For my meal they gave me several ideas/options. I went with risotto with veggies and fresh herbs. They somehow made it creamy just using vegetable broth. It was excellent! Service was excellent and we felt very welcomed. Our table was facing the street. There is a gas station right across the street, but to the left and to the right of it you can see the river and of course people watch. Prices for meals started at about $15, but for the quality and the portion you recieve I felt it was worth it. They have a selection of wine and beer too. It looked like they had a few small tables on the sidewalk. We will definetly be going back.
