Vegetarian Diner and Vegan Bakery
Veggie Galaxy is a contemporary Vegetarian/Vegan Diner and Vegan Bakery located in the Central Square neighborhood of Cambridge, Massachusetts - just across the Charles River from Boston.
Our goal is to be a diner that everyone can enjoy, regardless of their dietary choices or restrictions. We offer classic diner food taken up a notch by our from-scratch kitchen. Everything we serve is vegetarian, most is vegan (and everything else can be made vegan), and we offer a full gluten-free menu as well. This is comfort food, to be enjoyed in our cozy booths or on a stool at the counter near the action of the grill. Our servers will welcome you in and make you feel right at home.
We have an on-premises Vegan Bakery offering classic diner desserts including an award-winning vegan Lemon Meringue Pie. Baked goods are available for order (birthday cakes, breakfast pastry platters, Thanksgiving pies, etc.), to take out or with your meal.

If you walk in expecting everything to taste like the local greasy spoon you grew up with, you'll be disappointed. If you want a great tasting meal that just HAPPENS to be vegetarian or vegan at a great price in a fun atmosphere with a great wait staff, you'll love it.
My "everything tastes better with bacon" husband and I (20+ year vegetarian) eat lunch or dinner here often. Hubs recently tried their "cutlet of the day"; he swore that it tasted like meatloaf and practically licked the plate clean.
All of the desserts are vegan- I always recommend the Salted Caramel Ice Cream- they make it with coconut milk, so it has a coconut flavor, too. SO good.
Give it a whirl!
I have been eating at Veggie Galaxy for almost two years now and I am not a Vegetarian/Vegan, but I enjoy diners and good food. The restaurant lives up to the name of a diner and you get the feel of an authentic neighborhood diner vibe without being tacky. If you are looking for healthy options there are many on the menu, but Veggie Galaxy leans more in the direction of comfort food like chipolte black bean burgers, baked macaroni and cheese, and glazed seitan loaf.
On my last visit we went on a Saturday evening around seven. The place was crowded, but we didn't have to wait for a table and the service was quick and efficient. I ordered the glazed glazed seitan loaf and was surprised at just how tasty it was . The entree came with mashed potatoes and sauteed rainbow chard,. My girlfriend had a mushroom chickpea burger with a side of delicious fries. We were happy to see they had a wine and beer license and we had a nicely poured glass of red wine. They also serve local bottled and draft beers.
For dessert we ended up splitting the lemon meringue pie and was totally surprised at just how good a vegan dessert can be.
Veggie Galaxy is also well know for their breakfast that is served all day, just like it should in a diner.
The service is good and the prices are reasonable. That is why I keep going back.
