I ate here several times during my stay in August 2006. The mock meat dishes are as good as you will find anywhere, including Zen Palate in New York City. If I hadn't been staying in a hotel, I would have ordered almost everything on the menu to go, and then I would have feasted every night.

Chu Chai is a great little restaurant with so many veggie options, that it's difficult to decide on just one entree! My husband got the duck with chili and basil, a tasty entree with seitan and vegetables in a rich brown sauce. I got the duck in a red curry sauce with pineapples and tomatoes. So good! My curiosity sparked me to try the deep-fried spinach, which was very sweet (almost sugary) with a unique flaky texture. It was definitely worth trying, but I probably wouldn't order it again.

Chu Chai has so many different vegetarian options - between the duck, chicken, beef, shrimp, and tofu, it's really hard to decide what to get! I'll definitely be back to sample Chu Chai's other options! A helpful hint: if you have reservations at Chu Chai, go up the steps past the outdoor seating, and through the door to the hostess station on your right... (Chuch is next door) This was a little confusing for us.

Chu Chai is a wonderful Thai restaurant in Montreal that specializes in preparing traditional dishes using mock meats. It is located in a trendy shopping district, so parking is a bit difficult, but the location has its advantages (for example, the terrace is an ideal spot for people-watching).

The fake meat is pretty convincing in terms of taste and texture, although my favorite dishes (dumplings in peanut sauce and tapioca pudding made with coconut milk) do not contain any mock meat. The only complaint that I have with Chu Chai is that they don't label the vegan/nonvegan items on the menu.

This was one of my favorit restaurants when I was living in Montreal. The fried spinach is out of this world. YUMMM!!!

This restaurant ROCKS! Fresh, tasty vegan fare that won't disappoint. It's expensive, but so worth it.

My mom and my sister loved this place. I liked it too, but it was too expensive for my taste. A normal dish was about $14 and the portions were a bit small (medium size really, but for $14, I'd expect more food). The food was tasty though, and I really appreciated that that the whole restaurant is vegetarian and they can make pretty much everything vegan. They also serve vegan desserts; the tapioca pudding was good, but the fried bananas were just ok. The service was also good.

One of the finest restaurants in town for some vegetarian eatin'. I even brought my meat-eater family and they all loved it! This place has a nice decor and the staff is friendly. Highly recommended.

The service at the sit-down part was really great. The service at the counter was slow, but I can forgive them because they were trying. The food is fabulous, whether you order off the menu or get the take-out from Chuch. The Red Curry Tofu and the Garden Spring Rolls are to die for. I'm jealous of Montreal for having a gem like this in the city.

Food here is delicious but pricey. It's definitely a "fine dining" type of place. Definitely worth checking out though.

Next door at "Chuch" you can pick and choose what you want in the display case. Not cheap, but cheaper and still very delicious.

There's also a express buffet adjacent to the restaurant called Chuch, run by the same owners. The food here is amazing. The portions are a little smaller than i prefer, but the quality and ambience make up for it.

I ate here several times when I was in Montreal two years ago. All the food I had here was quite good, and the selection was wonderful.
