I loved this restaurant for its great food and plethora of vegetarian options, and I was thrilled to find out that they have tons of vegan options as well. Our very helpful waiter was happy to point out the potential vegan choices to me (pretty much everything on the vegetarian menu that doesn't mention cheese). He said if he is serving he will make sure it's made vegan, but some of the other waiters might not know what that means, so I should specify that I don't want butter or any other dairy. For bread, the roti and chapati can be made vegan on request (the naan, sadly, cannot). The papadam (spiced lentil crackers) that are served as an appetizer are vegan. I didn't ask about the South Indian options, although maybe I will next time.
I ordered the aloo chole with roti. The aloo chole was great, and the roti was a fine substitute for naan, although not quite as tasty. My husband got his favorite malai kofta (contains cheese). The dishes come with fragrant spiced rice. Portions are enough to take some home for lunch the next day, unless you are really hungry!
One minor complaint is the layout of the tables. Although the tables aren't that close together, the arrangement makes it seem as though you are having dinner with the people at the next table over. A different arrangement would make the restaurant feel more intimate.
