International Falafel Chain

Maoz Vegetarian is an all-vegetarian (and nearly all vegan) falafel shop that features falafel sandwiches, salads, and fries. After you get your sandwich, there's a large selection of self-serve toppings - pickles, cucumber salad, roasted cauliflower, dairy and vegan coleslaws, carrots, baby eggplants dyed in beet juice (really), olives, several fresh hot sauces, and much more.

The first Maoz branch was opened in 1991 in Amsterdam, Holland in order to introduce Dutch people to a new and nutritious vegetarian dish (falafel sandwiches). The Maoz sandwich became a huge success in Amsterdam, leading to the expansion of Maoz both nationally and internationally.

Maoz is a decent place to grab a quick meal. The menu lists several different options, but most of them consist of falafel on a pita with fries (regular or sweet potato) and your choice of veggie "toppings" for the sandwich. Roughly half of the "toppings" are vegan (and clearly labeled as such). The fridge case has a good selection of fruit juices and natural sodas, as well as vegan coconut milk rice pudding. The rice pudding was definitely the highlight of my meal.
