Cafe Desta is my absolute favorite place to eat in Tucson. The vegan options are numerous and diverse, bursting with flavor, with an appealing presentation. The staff is friendly and genuine. The modern yet Ethiopian atmosphere lends itself well to romantic dates, girl's night out (in the extended dining room), family dinners, business lunches, or a quiet meal alone. A nice perk is that you are welcome to bring your own bottle of wine, and there's not a corking fee.

Note: While the food, soup, and bread are phenomenal, I don't often see vegan desserts offered here.

I still like Zemam's better, but the vegetarian items are all vegan, there is a "vegan dinner for three" option that might save you money (it fed four people just fine), and the decor is much more stylish than at Zemam's.

But man, Zemam's split peas are out of this world!

The collards are out-of-this-world good. The food is always good.

I LOVE this place! The food is so good and about half of the dishes are vegan. What? Yeah. Also the people are so nice! Delicious food, not to pricey. Also, BYOB. Yum.

Cute decor, tasty food. Price is comparable to Zemam's, but you get a little salad with your meal as well. Lots of vegan options! No dairy in veggie dishes, just in the soup. If your friends are new to Ethiopian food, this is a good introduction as the meals come out seperately and with a fork (although, isn't that the fun?).
