Land of Kush

Baltimore, Maryland

This restaurant is straight up the best thing happening to Baltimore right now. They have many different options, across a range of cuisines, and I always have trouble deciding what I want. On weekends they have some special options not on the weekday menu, and I love the vegan drummies. I love their cold dishes too, like the chik-un salad wrap. You can order items a la carte or get a special plate that includes a certain number of sides. I usually do the "special platter" (single entree with two sides), and my favorite sides are the salads: sesame spinach, potato salad, and pasta salad. The carrot tuna is spicy and delicious. My only criticism is the lack of space for large groups, and sometimes the sauces are too sweet for my tastes. Also I don't get the cabbage - I like mine finely shredded and cooked to death, and theirs is larger chunks with a bit of crunch left. It says a lot about how good a place is when the largest critique you can come up with is "the bbq sauce is sweet and they don't make cabbage the way I like it." If providing the community healthy, delicious food is their goal, they are winning every day, and I feel good about supporting them (unlike many other restaurants).

Fried Chicken was amazing! I almost felt guilty eating it...almost! All in all a great place. I will be going back...many times.

We enjoy the food here. Their chicken less chicken salad wrap is really great, as is their live kale.

I visit the Land of Kush on a regular basis. They are completely vegan and offer a variety of tasty options including BBQ "ribs", chick-un salad, candied yams, mac-n-cheese, kale salad, lasagna, and a lentil loaf. My absolute favorite are the drummies served with a "honey" mustard sauce (offered on Friday and Saturday only). The portions are sizable and the cost very reasonable. You can put together a platter, which includes one entree and two sides of your choice for $10.00.

Wow! We really liked their food. My family and relatives of seven visited for the first time in May 2011. We were highly pleased and absolutely will make that a spot to return to on our future visits.

Suggestion: Order as many dishes as you can and have everyone try them so you will know which ones will be your favorite.

We chosed: Kush BBQ Spare Tips, Curry Chick-un, Sweet & Sour Seitan (meatless chicken), Sesame Spinach, Collard Greens, Cabbage, and Baked Macaroni & Cheese. For Dessert: Carrot Cake & Red Velvet Cake. No complaints!

They serve their foods in take out container so ask for a plates if you're dining in. Restaurant is very small, not good for large groups and can be a little crampy holding perhaps 16-20 persons max. But don't let that stop you from trying some of the best food in Maryland. If I was you I would avoid the lunch crowd.

Pricing was very reasonable.

Do remember them for your catering engagments.
