A Romantic alternative to it's neighbor Pita Jungle
Like me, you've probably wondered about that place two doors down from Pita Jungle in Tempe, Tasty Kabob.
One day I braved checking it out, just to see what this place offered. And I discovered that Tasty Kabob has many of the same vegetarian dishes as Pita Jungle, AND it's cheaper!
Start with the appetizers, Dolmas, Hummus, spicy pinto beans, cucumber and walnuts, or try the Eggplant Borany (pureed eggplant sauteed with onions, garlic, and mint).
There's numerous veg salad selections, including the old standby Tabouli.
Finish your meal off with a stupendous veggie kabob, or a veggie burger.
If your looking for an upbeat atmosphere, Pita Jungle is your place. But if you want a more quiet, serene, and romantic setting, then Tasty Kabob just might fit the bill perfectly.

From the 101, Exit at Broadway and go right (west) until McClintock. Take a right (north) there and then a left (west) at Apache Blvd. Restaurant is on the right, in the strip mall, to to immediate right of Pita Jungle.

I am in love with Tasty Kabob
The veggie kabob is marinated and grilled perfectly. Everything is covered in a nice saffron glaze. The rice is always perfect and fresh. The baba ganouj is ridiculously good. They even sprinkle the little crispy eggplant skin on top of it and it adds a really nice crunch.
I would recommend the veggie appetizer combo. And if you are vegetarian do not pass up the saffron pistachio ice cream. They make it fresh with locally grown pistachios.
The owner and his wife are extremely personable and don't hesitate to answer all questions. Servers are always attentive and friendly as well.
The restaurant itself is really clean and always has fresh flowers and clean linens. You can even sit outside on the patio and not be forgotten by the servers.
