Inexpensive Salad Bar chain with soups, baked potatoes, and lettuce wraps
Souper Salad is a much cheaper version ($3 less per dinner) in comparison to its local competitor Sweet Tomatoes. Though it offers fewer food choices, particularly fresh produce selections. And the food quality is not quite as high as Sweet Tomatoes. But again, you pay less, and for a large group, that can really add up to significant savings.
Besides fresh produce, Souper Salad has 4 soups daily, and quite often there's a vegetarian selection (though sometimes it's an ultra-fat-laden macaroni and cheese); there's also a potato bar (with salsa and green onions as veg toppings); white breads and muffins (whole grains are seemingly an unknown commodity with this chain); deserts (nothing fancy: pudding, jello, soft-serve yogurt, etc.); and recently they've added "low-carb" lettuce wraps with veggie stir fry to stuff into iceberg lettuce leaves.
The company does post its rotating soups and prepared salads on its website. So you can learn what's available before you venture in, on any given day. The Vegan soups are typically very good, when available.
