Burgers and Shakes @ Madison Square Park

A park concession stand run by restauranteurs, they have a few vegetarian options. The Mushroom Burger is portabello with cheese. The Garden Dog is a Chicago Dog without the vienna beef dog.

They make frozen custard, floats, sundaes, fries, and sell alcohol. The custard contains egg, and the cheese is dairy based.

Eat outside in the restored Park, and even drink alcohol in the specially designated area in front.

The mushroom burger is simply fantastic. The mushroom burger is two deep fried battered portabello, encasing a layer of molten cheese. It's crisp, savory, and delicious all at the same time.

I had one bite and was dying for more. I had filled up on the Garden Dog (basically, it is a meatless Chicago dog) and their respectable crinkle cut fries. Their garden dog is a poppy seed bun filled with relish, pickles, peppers, crisp lettuce, tomatoes, and cucumbers.

The custards, floats, and sundaes will give you a sugar rush akin to those times as kid you spent all your money on candy.
