vegetarian Puerto Rican restaurant

Restaurant, Coffee/Tea/Juice

Veggie Garden is an all vegetarian restaurant in the Hato Rey neighborhood of San Juan. They are eco-friendly, and as such, don't serve any meat or eggs, but be sure to ask about milk, as they serve both dairy and vegan.

They offer traditional Puerto Rican food like beans, rice, and plantains, but also offer veggie meat balls, faux chicken, pasta, tofu, and pizza.

Like most veg restaurants, and other restaurants for that matter, they close on the weekends and close at 4pm during the week, however, they stay open late on Friday nights for "cosmic pizza and pasta night".

I LOVE THEIR FOOD!! everything here is delicious..... I love their chicken (not real chicken, its vegetarian).....So good! i used to go to school right around the corner from this place and would religiously eat here. I moved and am no longer around this place, but I dream of eating here again!! DELICIOUS!! and the owner is really sweet with great zen.

Best place I've eaten after being in Puerto Rico for 3 days so far. I've eaten there twice and ordered more food than I should admit eating in one sitting. The first lunch I had was the vegetarian chicken Parmesan with a salad and a vegetable side called sabji. The portion was a little small for the price but the meal was outstanding in every other way. The sabji stuff was soooo good it could have been an entree instead of just a side. Everything was well seasoned and not overly salty like some places cook. I also had the carrot apple juice which was so delicious I sucked down so quickly it didn't last long. I also got their vegan cake of the day which was vanilla with carob frosting. The cake was moist light, fluffy, and not too sweet. It was delicious and very good compliment for the homemade strawberry yogurt I also got. The chilled mini yogurt cup tasted like a mini strawberry ice cream.
Only criticisms are that the portions are a little small for the portions but the quality of the food, customer service of the staff, and menu variety well than make it still a worthwhile place for vegans, vegetarians, and everyone else to eat there while in San Juan.

Second meal was a veggie chicken pesto wrap on a spinach tortilla. Also bought 2 side ordered of the sabji I had on Tuesday. Whole meal was tasty & filling. And I got a lemon cake with lemon poppy seed icing. It was soo good I bought a second slice on the spot.
